Team 2 Architects was engaged to create a contemporary purpose-built addition to the existing Berkeley Vale Private Hospital, as well as refurbish existing wardrooms.
The new ward entry accommodates ward-specific requirements and delineates the specialist care from other services provided by the hospital.
The apex of the cantilevered skillion roof crowns the eastern corner of the site, opening the building to the public domain. Under this, 32 lineal metres of feature clerestory glazing follows the pitch of the roof and wraps the length of the north-east and south-east facades. This affords privacy to clients and staff while the raked ceiling maximises natural light in common spaces.
